What happens with the weekly LiveCast collides with the WikiTree Challenge?

Introducing

The WikiTree LiveCast Secret Santa Challenge!

With the success of the Challenges this year, we couldn't resist slipping in one more challenge as we move from 2021 into 2022.  We couldn't think of a more appropriate way to honor The Year of Accuracy while moving into The Year of Family than helping our own WikiTree family members with their wishes.

We will be fulfilling genealogy wishes for Wikitreers by our very own Wikitreers!  We have collected over 30 wishes as voiced by our own members!

WANTED:

--Elves, we need generous Wikitree elves who are willing to give their time and resources to help fulfill some of these wishes.  Elves will also answer this post and state that they are willing to help.

ELVES: Please post all hints/answers/responses to wishes on the space page and try to wait until after kick-off.  The G2G is for wishes and Elf sign-up only please.

--Santa's Bag of Wishes is overflowing with great genealogy wishes.   There are so many great ones.  Join as an Elf to help!

Kickoff for the Santa Challenge is 8 p.m. EST on Wednesday, December 22nd.   The final reveal will be 10 a.m. EST on January 8th on the first Saturday weekly LiveCast of the New Year with Mags!

I have some very specific requests. I could use some help translating several documents from San Pietro a Maida so that I can add these people to the tree for the upcoming Connect-a-Thon.

Basically, I need help sorting out the Desando family and a connection to the Campisanos. =D

Bonus cool points if you message San Pietro a Maida and get the birth details of Maria Ferraiolo. That would be awesome.

Seventy yearss ago, a teacher assigned a history project asking students to interview our oldest ancestor. My  Christmas wish is to finally find my ggg-grandfather, the father of Lorenzo Dow Posey (c 1826-1910).

Thank you for a creative, exciting project!

I would wish for additional information on George Wahl my ggg-grandfather, Wahl-1406, prior to his immigration to Indiana.  According to his death certificate his father was John Wahl and John was born in Germany, nothing else is known.  His mother is listed as unknown.  George's surname was likely spelled Wahl in Canada where he was born.  When he came to the U.S. he was using the spelling of Wall.  He was born in Upper Canada in 1835.  I've been searching for him since 1988.  A bit of serendipity occurred that year, we buried my father and on that day a letter was received from a family member asking if any of the names she listed were familiar.  They were and I became a genealogy addict.  If only it had happened a couple of weeks earlier I could have questioned Dad.  I was unaware that there were 3 more Wall branches across the country.  Last year through DNA I found Kate's family (his wife).

A cousin took the name into Germany without any source data so in my opinion it is too suspect to use.  He didn't even add additional Canadian data so how did he jump to Germany?

After losing Mom this year it makes me determined to find more out.  My generation is now the oldest and when I'm gone I want to leave behind the best tree I possibly can.

Thank you Wikitreer's you're the best.  Have a wonderful Holiday Season!

[[Unknown-422280|Sarah A. (Unknown) Morey (abt.1815-)]] is my 2x great grandmother. What I believe is her obituary in Iowa is posted on her profile with birth and marriage places. Ancestry or My Heritage sends me hints that others have trees naming her as Sarah Anne Orton. Any help of sources or where to look would be appreciated. Thanks Sue M Carda.

Charles Boileau is my brick wall, shows up here with wife and child in 1810, census records state he was born in the USA.  Have looked high and low for him and his first wife, never been able to find a marriage record even for them.  His first wife's name is up for grabs, never gets written the same twice in a row.  Funeral records also missing for them both.  Would love any help I can get to move him forward some.

I'm able to return the pendulum for any research in Québec / Lower-Canada / New France, although I don't do discord personally.  Elf on a shelf?  laugh

I added 6 research notes to Meyer-15938.  I have an interest because I also have a brickwall ancestor born in Switzerland.  Guess I should ask to be an Elf.
by Rick Morley G2G6 Pilot (159k points)
Thank you so much Elf Rick!

Also added some research notes added to both Pease-2935 and Collins-20366.

Also added a comment to Benningfield-118.  Sorry, the wish list isn't allowing me to edit it, so these are my only ways to record what I add...
Also added a comment on Töpelt-2 concerning him & his wife Emma.

I posted a wish, can not find it. Can I get some help in figuring out if I did it right? Thanks

thanks Tommy Buch for your answer.

here’s my wish, would love to have proof that Thomas Reilly born about 1770 in Shallon, County Meath is the father of Peter (about 1796) and John (about 1800). Of course any siblings would be a bonus.

I didn't see your wish posted anywhere either. Just edit your response above and add your wish.

I have a wish, but I don't know that it can be granted. I don't know my maternal grandfather or anything about his ancestry. I don't even know if he is alive or not. I only have the name Kurt Sproll (Sproll-6, currently unlisted because of uncertain living/dead state) and he is supposedly from the Mannheim area of Baden-Württemberg/Rheinland-Pfalz. He may or may not have married my late grandmother Waltraud Sauer-1575 in the 1960s. Any assistance is appreciated.

I wish I had seen this sooner, as I have some wishes of my own, but I'm happy to try being an elf to grant some wishes for others in the meantime.
