Neither answer is correct for my correspondence. He may be a relative, but am not sure. A question was asked while I was working on my GEDMatch concerning the union of William Selby and Sarah Magruder. There is some question as to who Sarah Magruder is and who her parents were. My grandfather, William Selby,1680-1733 was born in Montgomery, Montgomery, Maryland. He met and married Sarah Magruder, 1691-1711, and had one child, William Magruder Selby, 1709-1784. Sarah Magruder was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Beall) Magruder and the grandaughter of Alexander Magruder and Ninian Beall who arrived in the Virginia in the United States through Barbados from Scotland in the mid 1600's as prisoners from Scotland. He then married Elizabeth Smith in 1711 and all other children were born of this union. My grandfather Thomas Selby, of this union was born 1720 and died 1767. There was a copy of a will from William Selby, 1680-1733, which shows where he gave 200 acres of land to William Magruder Selby, his son, and the rest to his other children.
