Found a free Google book (I love 'em!) that is called Centenial History of the History of Millbury, Massachusetts that says that George Woods (a soldier in the war of rebellion) died (south) 1864 Nov 11th. Has a stone here, but is buried in the south.

Posting the link to the book just in case this is the correct George.  :)

Did your George Wood have a middle name or Initial,I have now found 5

different George Wood from Georgia.Luckily they have different middle initials.

Civil War enlistment records tough to find.Without his middle initial were just

out of luck.

Wayne,

THANK YOU SO MUCH!  Go ahead and add the information for the 5 Georges.  Someone may be able to use it if they search G2G for George Woods.  Great job!
I ran a search on Fold3 for Confederates in a Georgia regiment and I got hits for 15 George Wood or Woods.  Five were George Wood (no S).  Are you sure of the spelling of the surname?
