Unless you manage both profiles to be merged you need to wait for the other managers to act on the proposal. They have 30 days to act on it, after which the merge gets default approval.

I think that maybe what Mary wants to do is to connect her branch of the big tree to another branch that already exists.

The term "merge" is used in a quite particular sense in WikiTree, for when you have duplicate profiles for the same person, that need to be made into one single profile.

If you need help with fitting your branch into an already existing family (which can be fiddly when you are new to the system) you had better mention the "endpoint" profile you have and which family you want to get it fitted into.

Hello Mary and welcome to WikiTree. Can you edit your question or comment on the question to give us a couple of profile ID's from the two families you want to merge? We don't merge entire families but if the families are all duplicates, then each person can be merged with the duplicate profile until there is only one profile per person for the two families.
