Hello group: Need help please with two Connecticut marriage of Henri Olivier Labossiere.

M. 1 to Marie Amanda Daigle at North Grosvenor Dale, Windham, Connecticut, U.S.A. on September 26, 1880.

M. 2 to Rose Delima Lussier at Putnam, Windham, Connecticut on February 17, 1896.

See profile at FamilySearch.org: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/L6H6-K1W

His parents are not proven yet, but seem highly likely as they appear to be the only Labossiere family at Putnam this early.

Thanks, Jim

I don't see any marriages in Conneticut, but found some in MA & Canada.  Apparently not a super rare name.  I don't have a subscription to Ancestry.com this year, but they have the following links:

Did you see this earlier G2G:

All the books in the series are available for free online, at multiple locations. Here is a list:

Early Connecticut Marriages as Found on Ancient Church Records Prior to 1800

The above list also includes the link to An Annotated Table of Contents.

The books were republished in 1982 (7 books in one volume) with additions/corrections.

Thanks, Eddie, for bringing up this series. Now I can ask my questions!

There are 7 volumes available on Archive.org:

Frederic W. Bailey, ed., ‘’Early Connecticut Marriages, as Found on Ancient Church Records, prior to 1800’’, [https://archive.org/details/earlyconnecticut1896bail v. 1], New Haven, CT: Published by the Bureau of American Ancestry, Price, Lee & Adkins Co., Print., 1896.

Then v2-7

Questions:  Are there any problems with this series we should be aware of?  Does Bailey tend to be accurate in his transcriptions?  Are there any major known gaps in his coverage of the available materials?

Many of these marriages are also covered in the Connecticut Church records indexes (at the Connecticut State Library but available on Ancestry.com.) I haven't noted any major discrepancies when I've found a marriage in both places.

The Connecticut Church Record Indexes were built from the original church book records. The CT Library archives built the indexes, so users wouldn't wear out the originals. Bailey predates the indexes and also would have used the original church books.

Hello Rick:

Thank you for your answer, but none of the ones suggested are the correct people. The earlier MA marriage records only apply before 1800 and my two are about 1880 and 1896. The CT marriage index at the Connecticut State Library is good for newer records from 1897 forward. There is a period between 1800 - 1896 where CT vital records seem to be very difficult to find other than from census records. The third marriage record that you see on FamilySearch.org is for Henry Oliver's parents; Olivier Labossiere - Edesse Potvin. I am still not 100% certain of them being the correct parents, but census records certainly point towards them. Thanks again for trying, Jim
