Garrett Simmons was my 3x great-grandfather. Born in 1801 in N.C. I think Carterrett Co., purchased land in May District now 12th civil district of Rutherford Co., TN. I've been searching for 25 years but am disabled and can't travel so my options are very limited. He married Susan or Sussanah E. Wade daughter of Obadiah and Abigail Wade who served in the Rev. War as his other family members and faught  on the N.C. line. His Personal documents show he was living in CarteretteCo.. He moved his family to Williamson Co. TN. very close to where my Garrett Simmons established his home and farm.

I know that and more but cannot get past. I suspect that the records were destroyed in Richmond and other cities when the YanKees burned them to the ground.

I've had many to guess or give their best opinion but have no proof.

Thanks

Mike
