Can't find realatives on my dad's side using realative finder

Question

Trying to find connections on my dad's side but can't find anything not sure who to be looking for either.   Dad's side is from Germany.  Mom's side was easy they just keep popping up.

What info do you have for your dad so far? Do your paternal grandparents have profiles on WikiTree?

Yes my dad's side is on wikitree only going back to 1732 if I have the correct info.

Strauss-112 is 2 Great-Grandfather

Rudolph-1672 is 2 Great-Grandfather

You know the connection finder, and under that, the relationship finder?  When I go to those nothing comes up on my dad's side just my mom's side.

Ohh I see. We all have one side that is more tightly related to the "big tree" so like the connection finder takes the shorter possible way, you'll usually see the same beginning path.

If you want to avoid that, just see your connection to any other profile and click the little x cross on your mom's square. This forces the finder to find a path that doesn't go through her. It might not be able to find one if your dad's side is only connected to the global tree through her.

If you want to shorten your paths on your dad's side, you'll have to work to add more profiles and connections on this side!
