The text section of the profile should (ideally, at least) provide the basis for the information that is highlighted by the data fields and the family connections. We have inherited many profiles that are deficient, but when we revise those profiles to correct errors, we need to be sure to document the basis for the revisions.
Therefore, before requesting a change to a connection with a protected profile, it is best to revise the biography of the profile to clearly identify the family relationships, showing the sources and reasoning for the relationship as you understand it. Use statements in "Research Notes" or a profile comment to identify the error(s) in the existing connections and to indicate what should be shown instead. If you can explain why an error was made (for example, "the mother currently shown on this profile is the father's first wife, but this man's mother was the second wife"), do that.
Please do not assume that a Project Leader will put their name on the changes you request, based solely on your say-so.
