This freespace page describes and links to 41 volumes of 'Calendars of State Papers' and related material covering a tumultuous period for Ireland during the reigns of Queens Mary and Elizabeth, kings James, Charles I and Charles II and the Commonwealth.

According to British History Online they are ‘summaries full enough, for most purposes, to replace the original documents' many of which no longer exist.

They provide a wealth of genealogical material. Each volume has a prefix summarising its contents and the historical context and an index including the names of those mentioned. The on-line volumes can also be searched.
