Hello WikiTreers! The fifth WikiTree Challenge was a success! Our guest star was Oliver Wakeman, a musician, rock keyboardist, and composer best known as being a member of the band Yes from 2008-2011, a role previously filled by his father, Rick Wakeman.

The week officially started on Thursday, March 3, at 12 noon EST (5pm GMT), and ended at noon EST (5pm GMT) on Thursday, March 10.

WikiTreers joining in on the fun didn't need any particular research skills to help. Many found us in Discord to see what we were working on. Watch for the exciting Highlights video and G2G post to come out, it was really a lot of fun!

Frank Wakeman's mother Caroline appears to have an 1851 Census that shows promise of identifying her parents. Still checking it out, but parents appear to be Charles Richardson and Jane (still need a maiden name). Likely married around 1835-1840. Living in or around the Felton/Bedfont area, Middlesex.
According to Family Search the parents of Frank Wakeman was Charles Wakeman (1847-1936) and Caroline (Richardson) Wakeman (born 1850).
Janet filled them in earlier. I've added his maternal grandfather and a few of his mother's siblings. Have to hit the rush hour traffic, so might come back and do some more later. If someone gets to more family while I'm away, please keep going.
Didn't find a direct connection, but an indirect connection through marriage. One of the Richardson's married an Eydmann, and I was able to find a connection to an existing person on the tree (Henry Eydmann, 1755, Germany) who happens to be a g-something-grandfather of one of our members.

Found another marriage connection through one of the Eydmann children, married a Purves, and we had Purves on our tree. Dorothy Isabel Purves married Arthur Henry Eydmann and Dorothy's G-Grandfather was James Purves from Scotland.

Great work Scott and Kenneth!
In the profile of John Wakeman -5833, can anyone copy the page from London Gazette into the space page, Thanks in advance

Will add parents for Harriet Lloyd

Thanks Carol! Those profiles are adding up quickly!
Esther (also known as "Hester") Voller was a daughter of William Voller (born 1862 in Rogate) and Elizabeth (Ings) Voller (born 1864) per WikiTree.

Made the connection via https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1375946 who is a son of [[Valler-116|William Valler (bef.1766-)]], one of Oliver’s direct ancestors on this line :-)

Good catch!
Way to go Maddy! Nice connection!

the Eastments should be connected today

That would be great
Great Claire! Let us know when they are connected to the global tree.

The Eastments and the Bastons are already Mindy, I did them yesterday, though I don't actually know who made the final connection, as I did my top down bit LOL

there are many more in both branches which are also connected "Fincher" for one was already there too

Taken the Eastment’s back to Richard Eastment 1753 - 1823, so far, filling in the children and their children for the Eastment line.

Edit:- There are many branches, from the spouses, to be added if someone wants to ‘pile in’ mainly in Somerset and South Wales.
Which profile is the connected/existing one Claire?

I can count Patience Park Eastment, Claire, if proof for Patience as the wife of Isaac or the mother of Edward is added.

Hi Mindy, both added more sources to Patience, Isaac and Edward,

Perfect Claire, thank you!!

Hi Mindy. Lilians parents are already connected and already on Wikitree. I’ve added them so Olivers tree should show as connected in the morning :-). They are Emma Ogburn and Thomas Davies. I did this just as the challenge started and several people are working on this branch now. All looking good so far!
WooHoo! Thanks Lizzie!!
I'm working on bios and proving parents for Emma Ogburn's grandparents James Ogburn (Ogbourn-14) and his wife Maria Andrews (Andrews-19324)
That's great Nicole! Let us know what you find.

I have parents in the biography for James Ogburn,( James and Elizabeth Ogbourne) but haven't created profiles yet as can't confirm which James and Elizabeth they are. I haven't found their marriage and her surname is not given on James' baptism.

As for Maria's parents, I've also indicated their names on her profile, (John and Elizabeth Andrews) but have only added a profile for the father so far.  I can only find one marriage that might be the correct couple  (to Elizabeth Booman), just looking to confirm they are the only possible couple before creating her profile.

Those common names can be so tricky Nicole. Let us know what you find!

it appears that Ronald Woolford's parents were not married as Ronald took the surname of his nother Violet Louise Woolford. The Woolford family can be traced back to John Woolford 1602-1685 using WikiTree.
Correct, Kenneth. He was raised in an orphanage so his father is a mystery.

Connected https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Woolford-423 to his parents already on WikiTree.

We have been working Lizzie Mason for a few days,  If her parents are Ellen and Joseph Mason, bounty points will need to be shared by Ann Browning, Claire Darragh and Myself. We just need to find a couple more sources before they can be connected.

Ellen Mason https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mason-21222 is connected as Lizzie Mason's mother.  We believe that Lizzie was illegitimate.  We do not think either of Ellen Mason's husbands are Lizzie's father.  Notes on profile. Please share bounty points.

Thanks Joan, have updated Ellen's bio with this information now too.. and I agree deserves a share of the points , lots of collaboration research into this wall.

Nice work all!!

Brick Wall AncestorGeorge Mitchell Solved!!

by Eowyn Walker G2G Astronaut (2.5m points)
edited by Mindy Silva
Alfred Mitchell (1895-1932) was a son of George Mitchell (born 1847). George Mitchell was a son of George Mitchell (1818-1851) of Oxfordshire, England per WikiTree.
Found a possible death entry (1849) for George Mitchell as well as his widow and children living in 1851 in Reading, Berkshire, England. The 1851 census had Sarah's birthplace - there are a couple of Sarah Smith options that can be pursued. I did find a reference to the marriage banns in Oxfordshire but didn't find the marriage record yet.
I think you'll find that https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ballard-9697 is a duplicate of your Elizabeth Mitchell neé Ballard. Sadly I have removed her profile as he has his Elizabeth mistakenly connected to the Kingston Bapuize lineage. In my defence, her name is actually Sarah Elizabeth Ballard (Ballard-9715) and having the details of her marriage I associate her with Phillip and Emma Ballard.
Tweaked it a bit to help show the whole thing. There was something weird in the formatting. Hope that helps.
Thanks Chris and Scott!
Brick wall down on George Mitchell's father. I found his father William in the 1841 census living with George and his wife and child. Maddy found George's christening record. Please split the points between the two of us. We don't know his mother's maiden name at this time so wasn't sure if we should add an unknown or leave off for now.
Thanks, Scott!
Congrats Melanie and Maddy! Awesome collaboration!
Brick wall down on George Mitchell's mother maiden name. I found his father William's marriage at St Mary's Church, Streatley, Berkshire in 1808.
I might have connected this branch without even realising just looked on connection finder.

Made a connection via https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ballard-5970 who was already on wikitree x

ok maybe I am misunderstanding the connection thing William Francis Ballard is  the brother of Sarah Elizabeth (Lizzie) Ballard this is the guy who emigrates to Canada left his three children there with his wife's family Of the three Children one with  a very unusual name Almacy Ballard, she married William John Moher I try at the very least to add spouses so was surprise his Parents were already on here along with his Sister. So is the connection only at the top, or just the first connection which might be why I am confused.

Esther May should be connected today, there are plenty Baston profiles to work on now too.. eek
How's it going Claire?

I'm back on the case of the Baston's today Mindy not sure where Esthers connection did come from, think there was actually a couple (Duffield maybe?)  -  will try to tidy/fillout sources on the direct  line today

Sounds good Claire!
Added both parents to Thomas (Henry) Duffield - His Baptism shows he was Thomas Duffel at birth. will be interesting to find out if the other siblings became Duffield too!!

Think Claire might have connected this line Connection trail

thanks Heather, I did know I'd connected her via a couple of places but never noted the full actual trail, she should also be connected via the direct line now too

Great Dieter! Thanks!!
Thanks for joining the team Dieter, not sure there any German ancestors, but I am sure that won't stop you from helping out on his tree.
Dieter - this relationship was through marriage, but it was a German relative. Not sure if this is as far back as we can go, but I thought it was interesting regardless.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Eydmann-23

You'll see his great-grandson Henry married a Richardson, and the Richardson's are a part of Oliver's line.
I have numerous German ancestors.
