Trying to merge my account profile after a GEDCOM import

Question

I have received an email stating  The GEDCOM that you uploaded has now been completely processed into WikiTree web pages. 

Here's what to do next .Merge with your account profile.

I click the link that says ' initate a merger' It tells me to enter my ID in the second field however it is already in the top field. Not sure what to do next. When i try to merge I am not allowed because it requires two IDs. What Ids do I use

We should probably improve those e-mailed instructions.

Before GEDMatches, it was highly likely that a person's GEDCOM import included themselves, and therefore a duplicate profile of themselves was created which then needed to be merged.

After GEDMatches, it's likely that a person skipped themselves in the GEDCOM import to avoid creating the duplicate.

Is that you or your father? If it's you, merge Seymour-1128 into Seymour-998.

If it's your father, add Seymour-1128 as the father on the edit page of Seymour-998.
