Is it possible to enable sorting in the list that appears when adding a new profile?

When searching for a name we are able to sort this list by a choice of names and dates. "Sort by Relevance | First Name | Last Name at Birth | Birth Date | Death Date"

Is it possible to enable this sorting in the list that appears while creating a new profile? It would make ensuring no duplicates so much easier.

We are planning on looking at redesigning the Add Person page later this year, and part of that will be looking at the UI for the duplicate list. Adding optional sorts or filters is one of the ideas on the list.

I would love it if the location was taken into account when looking for possible matches. My main area I work in is Ireland, so if they aren’t even born in Ireland I’m not going to even open the possible match to see if it is a duplicate. For a common surname you can miss an actual match because there are so many that aren’t going to be a potential. Or at least have those in the correct country at the top of the list. As more and more names get added to Wikitree this problem will get worse.

I hope that at least when you add a child where both parents are already registered, you won't get "matches" where parents are known, but totally different.

Another point of nuisance is getting a Cartesian product of given names for eg. an Anne Marie, where you get everyone with either Anne or any variant of Marie plus any other given name.

I think Ian has recently updated the app so that Search as well as Adding Person pages give some options for looking for certain locations, as well as creating a sortable table.
