Possibly his paternal Grandmother's maiden name >http://Morehouse-1939

Looking for more sources to back it up.

This is a good start for me smiley - I just found Hiram Alexis Swegles death certificate. I'll add it to the profile soon as I crop the unnecessary edges. Dates etc match.

Not too bad for jumping in, exploring to see what sources have already been added and try to fill in some blanks.

Thanks Maggie and Carol!!
I disconnected Omar Julius Swegels and his mother, Margaret Morehouse Swegles, from the Charles Swegels family. They may be related but I can not prove they are Charles Swegels people. Back to the drawing board.......
Thanks again for working on this Maggie! Let us know what you find.

I made a tree connection on this branch...Dorothea Stella (Jacobs) Swegles (1883-1980) to Sarah Elizabeth (Matherly) Jacobs (1865-1953) to William Riley Matherly (1868-1950) to Malinda (Brown) Matherly (1870-1950) and then linked her to her existing father David Brown (1839-1916)
I have been working on the siblings and half-siblings of Dorothea Stella Jacobs.  I think I have cracked a brick wall with her father's first wife.  I have typed research notes for Elizabeth Hughes (Hughes-26811) the first wife of George Washington Jacobs.

No marriage record for George Washington Jacobs and Elizabeth has been found at this point. 4 children used Elizabeth Hughes as their mother on their death certificates. The oldest daughter however used Elizabeth Gilligan.

While looking at the 1850 census for George W. Jacobs there is a John Gilligan living with the family and the next-door neighbor is an Elizabeth Hughes 17 years old wife of Squire Hughes. I have not found any other Elizabeth Hughes of the right age in the area in the 1850 census.

The Elizabeth who married George W. Jacobs did name a son by him Squire Jacobs.

The only Squire Hughes of the right age in 1860 is married to an Elizabeth Pool and living with her family in Ohio.

There is no Elizabeth Gilligan showing in the 1850 census as she should because George J. Johnson is not yet married.

I would like more records, but I do believe Miss Elizabeth Gilligan married Squire Hughes, the marriage didn't last long and then Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes married George W. Jacobs.
Congrats Donna!! Nice work Lukas!

A weird brick wall solved on the Reynolds side. Clyde Reynolds father Jacob Reynold is the son of William N. Reynolds and Sarah McComas.

The problem was that the Marriage record for William Reynolds says spouse Sarah Scott.  To further the problem, Sarah is listed as Scott in the 1850 census with her father Moses Scott (McComas).

McComas is used by children as their mother's maiden name not Scott in marriage and death records.

Finally a break through when Moses Scott McComas widow's family is listed twice in the 1860 census, once under Scott once under McComas. I am still working on this, getting records for their children.

Moses Scott McComas uses his full name in records it may be a case of he was known by first and middle name and people in the area such as the census taker or neighbor assumed that was his last name.
Update:

Moses Scott McComas married Barbara Stream 7 Jul 1829 in Greene County, Ohio.

Moses Scott married Susannah Skirvin 22 Aug 1831 in Campbell County, Kentucky. (That is about an hour south of Greene County, Ohio in modern travel)

From 1840 on, Moses & Susannah Scott and family are in Grant, County, Kentucky (about another 45 minutes south) They use the name Scott until 1860. That happens to be the time Moses died.

Susannah and family are listed twice in the 1860 census, once under Scott and once under McComas. The children use the names Moses McComas and Susannah Skirvin from then on. The only exception is a death certificate that lists Moses McComas and Mary James......I believe this to be a case of the informant didn't know the answer to the question.

To me this name change, of Moses Scott McComas to Moses Scott seems like a case of not wanting to be found by your first family of in-laws. Of course, we will never really know the real reason of the name change but I am confident in the research that Moses Scott McComas and Moses Scott are indeed the same person.

This is one of the most unusually difficult genealogy tasks I have come across
Hmm, that is unusual Lukas.
Well done for sorting that lot out Lukas!
I am not really sure what connection bounty is or how to tell if I did it, but I connected Moses McComas b. abt. 1799 to the following parents already on wikitree. McComas-39 and Scott-43641. I also suggested merges as I found multiple profiles
You've been doing an awesome job Lukas! I'll check your contributions, I don't see McComas in those links.
I've tracked and awarded bounty, Lukas. Congrats!

I made a tree connection on this branch: Nils Englund (1860-1942) to his mother Maria Larsdotter (1825-1906) to her father Lars Nilsson (1799-1827) to his father Nils Jonsson (1774-1857) connecting to existing parent's profiles Jon Nilsson (1745-1827) and Marit Jonsdotter (1743-1816).
Way to go Amy! Nice job on the inline citations proving parents. Bounty has been awarded.

Would bounty points work the same for a grandparent versus a great-grandparent as a launching point, considering that we don't have anything on his Martinnen line yet?
by Steven Greenwood G2G6 Pilot (117k points)
reshown by Maddy Hardman
Yes Steven, if the great-grandparents are not there at starting time. This just means there would be one brick wall bounty available for that line instead of the two you get with two sets of great-grandparents.
