Hi! I started to look into this and got sidetracked, because there's a project box but no project account. In 2017, WikiTree guidelines were clarified, noting that if a profile displayed a project box, then it must be managed by the corresponding project, and vice versa.

Do you know the status of the Austria Project?

There is no project yet, it's a free-space project under the Global Project. Technically, Austria is covered by the Germany Project until 1871.

Which is not correct.

The German confederation from 1806 on was a loose union of independent states -- why should (the larger) Austrian Empire be a part of Germany?
I wouldn't suggest that Germany should be covered by the Austrian project either...

My mistake Jochen. I thought including Austrian interests in the Germany Project would be helpful to the Austrian "project" as you only have a few interested members. We have a lot of resources and a very large and knowledgable membership for you all to collaborate with.

Also, the only reason that Luxemburg, Lichtenstein and Austria are now not part of Germany is because they were not incuded in the newly formed German Empire after the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. But in language and culture and tradition they are German. German, in terms of the project's scope, does not refer only to the present-day Federal Republic of Germany.

I have not heard back from anyone listed on the project page for the Austria Project, and I was unable to determine the status of the project.

Since database errors continue (project box without a project account), I propose that the current coding for {{Austria}} - which is a project box placed on profiles that are not managed by a project - be replaced with coding for a Sticker until the status of the project is clarified. See the proposed updated coding at [Template: Sandbox Liz12-1].

I intend to submit the recommendation to change the coding for {{Austria}} next weekend. I would welcome feedback from the project before then!

Hi Liz. I think there are actually only a couple of us working on the Austria project at the moment and for some reason your original question never turned up on my feed. I am currently, very slowly as time allows, adding location categories. I've still not finished Tirol yet! :)

See Template: Austria Sticker - its default is roots with switches for born & lived in.

Template: Austria was changed from a project box to a sticker, which should resolve a lot of DBEs.
