Why are the 2 Evander Jackson's not acceptable?

What Wikitree IDs are you inquiring about?
Deborah  Charlene Sanders Reeves 11729
That is my problem  when I try to merge  these  it comes up with errors
They should not be merged.
Charlene, I am going to do some drastic revisions of the relationships to correct the current situation.

Unfortunately I cannot reattach his parents, as they are both green locked.

Jackson-27279 needs to have Jackson-27280 as his father, and Cobb-6450 as his mother.   Charlene, if you are unsure how to do this, please unlock Jackson-27280 and Cobb-6450 so I can.  Thanks!  smiley

I just can't merge them because they aren't  the same.no one said I can't  but I keep  changing it because.

I think what Linda was asking was about the IDs for the two Evander Jackson profiles.  (But it's not that common a name, so they're not hard to find.)  You don't say who said they're not acceptable, but I think the only thing that's unacceptable is that there are two of them (Jackson-27279 and Jackson-30326), and they appear to represent the same person.  This site is developing a single worldwide tree with one profile per person.  If we find duplicate profiles for the same person, they need to be merged.  You can find info about merging in the Help file, but if you're not sure how to do it, please post again, and somebody will be glad to give you a hand.

These profiles should NOT be merged, as one of them at least was originally a totally different person and should be reverted to the person he was meant to be.
Well spotted, Melanie!

The parents that should be there, were removed because they no longer "fit" the altered profile.  Clearly there are two different Evander Joseph Jackson men - one born in 1912  (the original of Jackson-27279) to Spencer Newton Jackson and Mary Katherine (Cobb) Jackson - and one born in 1857 with different parents.  Even their places of birth were different - 1912 Evander was born in Rochelle, Wilcox County, Georgia, while the 1857 Evander was born in Walton, Georgia.

Jackson-27279 needs to be reverted back to his original state, and his parents reattached.

Further investigation shows that 1912 Evander is the GRANDSON of 1857 Evander.  Once reverted to his originally intended person, he can be reattached to his correct parents, which will place him correctly as the grandson of the older Evander.
Good catch Melanie, my bad!  I neglected to look at family members or history of profiles, just took them at face value.
yes. Why when I add siblings they duplicate person

Jackson isn't Jackson Sr. dad
by Living Sanders G2G Crew (920 points)
Evander Joseph Jackson (1912 - 1978) <<Jackson-27279>> is the son of Spencer Newton Jackson (1886 - 1957) <<Jackson-27280>> who is the son of Evander Joseph Jackson Sr. (1857 - 1903) <<Jackson-30326>>

Jackson-27280 needs to be attached as father to Jackson-27279
Cobb-6450 needs to be attached as mother to Jackson-27279

If you are unsure how to do this, then please open the privacy levels on Jackson-27280 and Cobb-6450 so someone else can.
Evander Joseph Jackson Sr. is my grandfather's dad and Spencer's son is the other EJ Jackson
