There was a tree submission that I saw of possibly a grandfather:

Lucas Marthinus Jacobus Swart, christening 23 Oct 1825 at Stellenbosch, Cape Colony, So. Afr.

His parents are Petrus Daniel Swart, chr. 22 July 1792 at Stellenbosch, So. Afr.

and Susanna Geertruida Havinga, chr. 23 Oct. 1797,              "                     "     "

There several parents with similar names at familysearch.org that you may want to check out. Most of the sons were born a couple or a few decades later than the 1850-1860 time frame you suggested.
