How to obtain documentation of births

Have anyone had to do work to obtain birth certificates from Angola around 1940's ?

Born to Portuguese parents in Angola and later neutralised as a South African Citizen. Back that time (1967's) people were issued persons numbers, followed later by ID numbers (1977's), which again had changed to new ID numbers (1990's). Have been back and fro between home affairs and constantly seems to be hitting a blank wall. Current SA ID Number is valid, but they show no means of validating a birth certificate and the Embassy and Consulate in Portugal, claim no records of birth either.  Unfortunately SA neutralisation certificate only shows South African persons number (allocated at time of Neutralisation) and states previous citizenship as Portuguese born in Angola.

Very confusing - trying to validate roots and just not getting anywhere at the moment.

Any pointers etc welcomed in how I could possibly glue together this riddle (sigh)

Good Day Jacques

I have no clue if this would help but found links online

If you have not already tried them they are

Angola - Obtain Copy of Certificate (Birth, Marriage and Death)  https://www.wikiprocedure.com/index.php/Angola_-_Obtain_Copy_of_Certificate_(Birth,_Marriage_and_Death)

South Africa Anglican Parish Registers (1801-2004)

An index and images to registers of baptism, marriage and burial kept by the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. They also cover events in what is now Angola, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Saint Helena, South Africa and Swaziland.

Thank you Ronel. I have indeed been through the familysearch site and have found some information indexed and un-indexed (was quite a browse).

The issue we have is that Portugal is refusing to accept that information to register a birth (in the event it was never done back in the day), and is insisting that we need to find the originals from Angola (sigh).  The info on wikiprocedure is quite dated and the website there is not accessible from outside of Angola it seems.

But thanks for your help! Its appreciated.

Cyndis List (www.cyndislist.com) has some references to Angola but I don't know how good they are. There is a search box on the top right of the home page and searching for Angola brought up a number of references.

Are you on FaceBook? I found a genealogy group there that may be able to help you.

Thanks - I will go have a look on the FaceBook group. Cyndislist seems to have mostly information that is already available on wikitree and familysearch sites.
