The existence of Thomas Greene is not in doubt however documentation of life events is proving elusive. An unattributed but seemingly well-researched paper on the family into which his daughter marries states he was at Trinity College, Cambridge from 1579 however he does not appear in Alumni Cantabrigienses as far as I can determine.

He became vicar at Royston, Hertfordshire sometime after 1604 and his successor was installed 27 Jan 1635 giving a death by date. Royston parish records prior to 1662 are no longer extant.

His wife (no profile as yet) was licensed to practice medicine leaving some paper trail there.

Available information is on the profile. Would appreciate any assistance in finding documentation. I have included Quakers in the tags as his daughter and her offspring are noted Quakers. Thanks.

He is (apparently) in the Aumni Cantabrigienses - see Thomas Green approx lifespan 1561-1659 (though it says he died in 1634.) It also mentions he was vicar of Thornton & rector of Wilksby (both in Lincolnshire.) https://venn.lib.cam.ac.uk

See also Thomas Greene 1585-1614 on the clergy database (ID: 144847) it looks like he left these Lincolnshire posts in 1614 (& there is mention of a son called Edward.) There is no mention of Royston, but looks like the records from that time period are missing for Royston.  https://theclergydatabase.org.uk/

This assuming Venn is correct & two Thomas’s haven’t been conflated (though from your notes it looks like the timing could fit well enough.)

Thanks for these! Yes, the time periods could fit and perhaps working out the wife profile dates will show if there is or isn't any conflation. I somewhere found notation that all Royston records pre-1662 were destroyed.

It might be worth looking at wills in the right time frame for other people who lived in Royston. It wasn't uncommon for the vicar to be named as a witness or overseer.
