The first Sibleys in America Was John, and Richard.

John and Richard came from Dorset England, where there father William was, He arrived in America 1n 1629 with the Winthrop Fleet, also called the Higgenson's Fleet, because the leaders were John Windthrop, and Frances Higgenson.

It looks like Isaac was also related to them but there is no proof as yet.
How, who, and when did the Sibley's get to Virginia? My family ancestor is from Virginia.
Who is your oldest known relative, and I will look him up, I have the books "Sibley Family in America" by John Scarborough Sibley, published in 1984, and have added as new info became available.  Don't Know if he is still around, haven't heard from him in two years.

I may be late with this reply...the earliest Sibley recorded in America was in Virginia.  Capt. John Sibley was in the earliest recorded census taken in 1623.  After an Indian massacre and sickness had taken a majority of the early Virginia population, it was decided a census of those living and those dead, needed to take place.  This census is easily found on the internet.  This John Sibley was probably born about 1605.  He is well recorded in early Virginia documents and was a member of the House of Burgesses.  I remember as a child Scarborough Sibley putting together the books "The Sibley Family in America" and my mom and grandmother putting together group sheets for him.  Later in my early 30's (probably because I knew the books existed), I became interested in our family history.  I spoke with Mr. Sibley on the phone and ordered the books and gave him extra information.  I told him about the census, which he was unaware of when he wrote the books.

To the best of my knowledge, this John Sibley had two daughters and a son.  Only one daughter Mary is named in his will and she is the only one who had a child.  I can find no information on his son Thomas who died in 1652.

The John Sibley in Massachusetts was not the earliest American settler!

My Sibley family came on the Cornwallis ship Beaufort to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1749. Henry Sibley was the Halifax settler and his son John came to Maine during the American revolution and had a large family.
