Are there any Connecticut experts out there?  I'm researching the marriage of Margary/Margaret Hubbell to David Whitlock.  Pls see Margaret (Hubbell) Whitlock (abt.1705-bef.1735) m. Whitlock-972

I believe Margaret Hubbell and Margary Hubbell, Hubbell-955 are the same person but I need proof. I have virtually identical birth dates and places of birth for them both.  I also think she is the daughter of Hubbell-160, Richard Hubbell.

I can't find a marriage record, but....

Margery Hubbell is mentioned as person #28 in "The History of the Hubbell Family" as the daughter of Richard Hubbell and Hannah Sillway (actually Silliway) . There is no further information about person #28 in this older version of the book, and Whitlock is not mentioned, but there is a newer version of the book you might check, though I do not have access to it. It's called the Millennial Version and has many updates.

Here is a link to the older online internet archive version of that book:

Probate records might be useful in resolving your uncertainty. The Hubbell Society has a lot of info as well, you can email them.

To me your Margaret already looks like an obvious enough duplicate with wiki-profile Margery Hubbell Whitlock which is better sourced. Once merged maybe it will be easier to find more sources. But please be careful to merge to the name used at birth which appears to be Margery Hubbell, I think the use of Margaret as a name might make them seem like separate people.

Thank you, R. Adams,

I'm going to merge them if the other profile manager is cooperative.  Note that all the children's birth/christening records have the mother's forename as Margaret, although there are records to indicate he married Ruth Williams as well. Also, note that Richard Hubbell married Rebecca (Morehouse) Hubbell (1667-abt.1692) first.  The son of David Whitlock and Margaret (Hubbell?), Daniel Whitlock  married Mary (Morehouse) Whitlock (abt.1724-1810).  Rebecca and Mary Morehouse are 2nd cousins or cousins once removed.
Do whatever seems to work best with her name, maybe it was considered interchangeable back then. I thought I saw her grandmother on the Silliway/Sillaway side was a Margery as well, but do what works best between you two managers!

p.s. Marriage could have been at Ridgefield where their first son was born.
p.s. Margery Hubbell  is mentioned with respect to her father's Will on page 303 of "The Families of Old Fairfield" and on page 304 in the children's list.
