How does one adjust background format

There are two background formats, one top and one all around - how do you select all around - see http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Richardson-2736  (full) versus: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Richardson-2739 (top only)

Glad you found the problem. Just could not see what you were talking about at the time. Did not want you to think we were not trying to appreciate your concerns or problem. Have a great day. Mike

From what I have experienced it is the image size. Might have to get a larger size image, not sure if there is a photo editor that can do that for an existing small image.

Thanks much but so far I have the same problem with either small or large photos (20KB to 80KB) and resizing them.  Some work on some pages and some don't work. I will keep trying best regards,

The windows paint program has streth/skew on the image tab.  Choose size perhaps 200% on both vertical and horizontal then save the image.

Again thanks for the suggestion.  How to photo edit is fortunately second nature these days in my profession,  but what size images are you uploading and what format? I use jpg's from 14kb to 500kb.  What are your size thresholds for those successful backgrounds? best regards

George:

From the profile page, click the "View/Edit" button below whichever photo you wish to change the setting for.

Once on the edit page for that image, you can choose to set it as the "Primary Photo" - which yields the thumbnail image on your first link above,; or as the "Background Photo" - which yields the second example.  You MUST 'Save' whichever change you make in order for it to take effect on the Profile.

Not sure the image size of the upload has anything to do with it.

Or am I misunderstanding your question?

Thanks Keith, I am clear on the background button and can create backgrounds with various sized photos.  But what is happening is that I get two different kinds of background formats.  The first kind is a bar across the top in addition to a thumbnail OR a picture-frame like image on others, better.  And the picture frame image is a set of multiple copies of the background image - interesting and artistic.

see top bar only image - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Richardson-2739
see full surround image - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Richardson-2736

Thanks much
I don't really see a difference between those two profiles... Richardson-2736 has a much larger picture, but both of them have the picture repeated (tiled) covering the whole background of the page. What do you mean when you say that the first one is a bar across the top?
Keith,

Thanks again for the feedback, very helpful.  I FOUND THE PROBLEM! Macintosh versus Windows!  Macintosh OSX Lion Safari Browser (latest) will not show the sides of the background page whereas my Windows 7 Explorer (latest) shows it.  That fix is beyond me.

best regards!
