Correct LNAB

Question

I'm not sure what the correct LNAB should be for this child.  Here are the details:

• His name is Heine -- Baptism Record
• His father is unknown
• His mother's name is Jantje Heines
• His marriage record shows his name as Heine Filippus Wals -- Marriage Record
• His death record shows his name as Heine Filippus Wals --Death Record

LNAB?

It looks like he was born in 1797, before the Netherlands required family surnames, but surnames were required by the time he was married.

I'm sure the Netherlands Project has advice for that situation.

It looks like the Filippus is a patronymic, so you could use that one at least, and I found this: https://www.genealogieonline.nl/stamboom-dettmeijer-naaijer/I10106.php

Which seems to suggest the name Wals was already in use as well.

Of course the issue remains to find proper sources for this connection...

Hello Kim, this is a difficult one, I would say his LNAB is Fhilippus or Philippus, after Fhilippus (Philippus) Ernst Wals the husband of his mother Jantje Heines (perhaps his father) but the problem is that in no deed a father is mentioned, while he is mentioned in his marriage certificate and death certificate with the surname Wals, I think it is best to keep as LNAB Wals because he is mentioned with this name in his marriage and death certificate
