Did you get a duplicate image warning message in error?

Hi WikiTreers,

We recently made some changes to our image uploading system. We were alerted elsewhere in G2G (here and here) that it may be returning too many duplicate image warnings.

We've made another round of changes. Now the system will tell you which existing image the new image appears to duplicate. Not only this will be handy in itself, it should help us track down the bug.

If you get this duplicate image message but you can see that the two images are not the same, please post the two image URLs here. There should be instructions on the image upload warning about how to do this. If they're unclear, ask. Then we'll investigate.

Thanks!

This is not a duplicate image. It’s the next page of the 1860 US census that shows the family continued at top of page.

I recvd the duplicate notice .I thought I was uploading a different document

Hi I named one upload as Shemuel Kearney Birth and the second one as Shemuel Kearney, maybe I should have made more difference  in the Title

I am pretty new to this still and tried to post a photo of my 2nd Great-Grand-Father, Joseph Bixby Cotton, someone had already posted one of him so I was told to go to a link and put in last name and number and I did. The photo has a broken link so now there is no photo at all and I don't know what to do.

I received the potential duplicate alert - and the second picture is indeed a duplicate. But when I tried to follow the instructions for correcting my error I could not get the original image to include the second reference:

A.) If they're the same, please click to Slott-82-1.jpg and add the WikiTree ID Space:Slott_Cemetery%2C_Albion%2C_Illinois under "People & Things in the Image".

I cut and pasted the link but It was not added and I received the alert at the top of the page:

Unable to find a Person or Space record for Space:Slott_Cemetery%2C_Albion%2C_Illinois

I even tried to do this several different ways (using "," instead of %2C, eliminate "Space:", and others) but each time got the "no can do" alert

I actually *am* uploading the same image twice. I just created a page specifically for McGlone-163's images and am re-uploading the 5 that are already uploaded to his profile. I'll "disconnect" the old ones when I'm done and do all my other profiles like this. It makes it a lot easier and keeps me from duplicating.

Old image:

New image that will replace it:

Hey Chris,

I received the duplicate image message but don't think it a the program error.  I think I managed to mess it up by myself.

the URL for a Frances Googe Prine gravestone is https://www.wikitree.com/photo.php/8/8f/Googe-51-1.jpg and is correct,

the URL for Edith Morris Googe gravestone is https://www.wikitree.com/photo.php/d/d7/Googe-51.jpg  but should be Morris-20705

Sorry, but I'm afraid I'll just make it worse by messing with it.

Thanks,

Hi Chris,

It seems to think thet it has uploaded my image but it is blank:

What to do now?

Thanks,

PS just checked the link which appears to be bad even though it came from the error notice page.

The first time I tried to upload a particular photo, I got an error window which said it couldn't be uploaded because it was possibly too big otr something. This is the URL:  <https://www.WikiTree.com/photo/Forsyth-1066-3.jpg> with no image. OK, I said, no and ignored whatever it said to do next and just tried again, which gave me the duplicate image message.  blushNow what do I do?
