Advice before editing this pre-1700 Dollfus profile?

As part of Connect-A-Thon I would very much like to build a profile for a 19th century descendant of Gaspard Dollfus. I would mainly use PDFs like https://www.stroux.org/patriz_f/stMh_f/MhDA_f.pdf (which also seems to be a source for this profile itself).

This is the website of Ulrich Stroux who died in 2020. It has sources documented, but some of them are quite difficult to obtain. So I would prefer to stick with the PDFs for the moment.

Question is: may I?

Florian, thanks for asking about this.  My wife and I both have ancestors from Alsace and Moselle which means French and/or German depending on exacty what year it was as I'm sure you know.

Pre-1700 standards ask that you provide sources for asserted facts such as birth date and location, spouse, children etc.  So that pdf by itself does not seem to be adequate unless there is a way to determine which source from the list on the right supports which asserted fact.

That obviously means more work, unfortunately.  It looks like Haut-Rhine has their archives online here, if it's anything like the Moselle archives then you should be able to get decennial tables, parish records and more.  Best of luck!

Thanks, I kind of expected that. That's too much effort, for the guy, my great-great-great grandma might have worked for. Plus I don't speak French and the archive only starts at 1793.
