Gedcom is not over 2500 people but report says it is too large.

My gedcom is less than 2500 people, but the report still says that it is too large.  I am very technical and have been doing genealogy for more than 15 years and this site has me stumped.  It seemed like a great idea to find matches for myself and 8 family members who tested and to grow and confrim my tree, but I have been on this site for hours and I still end up right where I started.  I wonder if maybe you might consider making this process a bit less difficult.
There is no approve button since the report doesn't understand that 1789 is less than 2500.  Honestly, I have no desire to manually key in anything since I've been growing this tree for so long.  Sigh, if anyone has any simple solutions, please let me know.  For now I am done until next week.

That's unfortunate. I already reduced it down from over 4,000. Sigh. This site may actually be too much work for me.
Renee,

while a GEDCOM upload might seem to save time, the resulting profiles require significant editing to align with wikitree style standards. Many of us have found this editing takes as much or more time than adding profiles manually. I'm one of those.
Have you switched websites again, Jillaine, my friend? I see you here suggesting to someone that it may actually be better to add people one at a time. (That's what we do on Familypedia, of course.)

Kind regards
Robin Patterson! Long time no hear. I left WeRelate several years ago when it became increasingly clear that D. was no longer committed to it. I like the community here on Wikitree and the developer (Chris W.) remains committed.

That said, WR has a much better GEDCOM processing tool than Wikitree does-- and many more data fields in profiles. So while I was a proponent of GEDCOM uploads on WR, I am not one here, although the process been improved since that last 2015 post above , and rumor has it that an even better GEDCOM processor is in the works.

How is familypedia doing?

Hi Renee,

The reason you're unable to import your GEDCOM is because of the number of suggested matches that was found.  The system doesn't allow an import if there are more than 500 suggested matches and your GEDCOM has 609.

You don't necessarily need to reduce your GEDCOM (although we do encourage people to start with a small one of say 25-50 individuals so they can get a feel for the site, the clean-up commitment and make sure it's what they really want to do).  You would just need to split this one into smaller segments.  See:http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Splitting_a_GEDCOM.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

WikiTree only allows new members a maximum GedCom of 1000. You will need to split your file.
