Ever consider using standard images for select categories

Just doing some background reading about categories and I came across the example: Rice-52. I really like the little ship image the manager used to signify the person was an emigrant and wondered if a standard image could be available for certain categories.

I was thinking it would work well for emigrants,  various war/battle participants - (some of the more famous battles could have their own unique image), nobility & royalty,  celebrity, pow,  possibly even specific careers (i.e. doctor, lawyer, minister, priest, farmer, civil servant) You get my drift.

I think this would work well if the images are kept small like in Rice-52

What do you think?

Hi Eugene,

That sounds really neat. It could be something we think about down the road, but to be honest, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I;m working on the profiles of the Founders of Hartford and have used a photo of the monument for all 163 people and a photo of an old map of Hartford for a background.  If what you suggest happens on WikiTree I think it would be by indivuduals who are interested in particular categories.  I really like the idea of uniformity, but that may just be my OCD talking.

As long as we don’t start using heraldic shields, I’ve seen used on some other sites.

Just because they share the same name, which would be a bit like adding everyone to you tree just because they have the same surname.

Yes Peterson,

It's amazing how many sites use heraldic symbols flagrantly. Most people don't realize that those symbols should only be used by small branches of much larger families that have title to the symbols.
