Cannot send a Private message

Hi all,

I am unable to send a Private Message to anyone ATM. All I get is a grey screen after clicking 'Send a Private Message'.

This is only a very recent occurrence.

Any ideas anyone?

Well, at the risk of offending you: Sign out of WikiTree, close all other apps, shut your computer off, count to ten slowly, and turn your computer back on.  That is like aspririn for computers--fixes many problems.
Ty.

I had logged out and back in previously, but did it again. Also restarted my phone ( which is what I use) this time as well.

But it is still the same. Just a grey screen.

It's a puzzle
I'm afraid this problem is out of my league.  Good luck with WikiTree tech help.
Yes I'm hoping so too David
I've just found the same problem on my phone - I'd never seen it before, because I don't use my phone for WikiTree.  It's clearly a problem with the code that the tech team need to fix, but - and this may sound a little strange - I've found that if I open a private/incognito window (where I'm not logged into WikiTree) the problem doesn't happen*, so as a short-term work-around, you may want to do that.  The only problem then may be that the email won't have your WikiTree ID in it (unless you add it of course).

* This was in Chrome on an Android phone.
Jenny, if this is a coding problem that somebody needs to fix, as Ian suggests, you should add a couple of tags to your question, such as 'Bugs' and/or 'Sysops'.  That should help to ensure that Jamie, or someone with access to the software, will see it and become aware of the issue.
Thanks Dennis.

Hopefully I have added that correctly.
I just did a test from both an ipad and an iPhone; no problem.

What kind of phone do you have?
Galaxy A30s
Here's another funny thing.  In the same situation (Android, Chrome; tapped "Send Private Message" > blank grey screen), I hit the settings button (top right, three dots) and "Find in page", and it fixed the page.
Wow. Yes it does.

Thanks Ian
Ian. It is only for that 1 message we are trying to send though.  Not an automatic fix for all.

I will await the Wikitree tech team to sort it out.

But I have a backstop if needed. Thank you for your help
Yes, I did realise that. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
Thanks for reporting this. It seems to be limited to Chrome on Android devices. We haven't figured out what is causing it yet.
Any luck yet Jamie??
Not yet, it's a bit tricky to debug because it only seems to be happening to physical Android devices (and not the emulated devices I use to test things) and I don't have an Android! But I haven't forgotten about it.
Have you been able to fix this problem yet.

I still cannot send a private message from my Android phone

I'm going to venture a guess that it's restricted to a problem with the mobile platform as I am having no problem on my laptop.

Brad. Yes it does seem to just be a phone issue.

I just checked.  I can send a private message via my laptop.
