ARBORIST: John Allen Breed duplicates

+6 votes

These four siblings are duplicated:

Breed-188, Breed-439 and Breed-63 all represent the same person (John Allen Breed/Bread).

Breed-70 and Bread-11 represents the same person (Agnes Breed/Bread)

Bread-12 and Bread-24 are the same person (Susan/Susanna Bread)

Bread-10 and Bread-4 are the same person (Elizabeth Bread Wheeler)

Their Father Breed-64 and Bread-5 (John Breed/Bread) is duplicated.

Their Mother Clemens-1133 and Clements-623 is also duplicated (Unknown Clemens)

Their Grandfather Bread-13 and Bread-8 (Timothy Bread) is also a duplicate.

Some of the confusion is that Bread and Breed are used interchangeably as spellings of the same last name.

This is a fairly common problem.  The solution is to make the merge proposals.  It seems like you have done the basic work so there is no reason not to just go ahead and make the proposals.

For those where there are various last names, again a common problem, it is best to make a recomendation on the best last name based on the sources provided.  If there are no souces ask the manages to pick one and be sure to add the alternate last name in the name field.

I looked at the merge proposals you have made - looks good.  Now we just wait.  hopefuly the managers will follow through - if not still not a problem in 30 days you can do them yourself.

I've proposed the merges. A couple of them were orphaned profiles and I've adopted them. A couple appear to be managed by relatively inactive members.

The immigrant descendant has been tagged as Bread, so it seems that that might be the best choice for a consistent last name.

Just a reminder ... always helpful to add any alternate spellings in the Other Last Names line.  This helps find duplicates and most importantly, helps prevent new ones.
