Thanks for the best answer star, Nancy. Some quick looking around seems to indicate that she may have been older than John. A few indirect pieces of information lead back to this 1910 census entry: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MLY1-CTF. Her mother is enumerated as "Minnie Linton," and some other snippets imply that "Minnie" was either Florence's middle name, or a nickname that she used. If the correct Florence, she appears again in 1920, still in the Portland area: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M48V-2J3.
A death notice from an Oregon newspaper showing a date of 2 April 1999 would seem to support those census entries with a sister named Doris: https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/28625609?h=7be927.
Edited to add: But we may have a problem with these guesses. Florence's death notice indicates that she married John Taylor in 1933, not in 1965...but that John Taylor died in 1998 and is very probably the same one in the Statesman Journal obituary. So we have some data disagreement here. Have you found any definitive marriage references?
