What is a "redirected profile"?

Patricia, great question.

Whenever a profile is merged with a duplicate the Wiki-ID of the profile being merged away remains.  For example, Smith-25 gets merged into Smith-10.  The Wiki-ID of Smith-25 remains and gets redirected to Smith-10.  That way any references to Smith-25 elsewhere will still connect to the information that now resides on Smith-10.

Was there more to your question? Something more specific?

Can you have Redirected Categories??!?!?

Magnus, I don't understand why anyone would have down-voted your comment - it is as good a question as the original that Patricia asked (I upvoted it to get it back to zero, at least).

The answer is, VERY unfortunately, no.  Nothing can be done with categories that are not correct - either not correctly named or don't belong here.  This does create a very big problem that is being dealt with by putting them in the Misnamed Categories category and putting a statement at the beginning instructing people not to add any profiles to the category and also with a link to the correct category they should use instead.
