Advice before editing this pre-1700 Parker profile?

I have information to contribute to the profile of John Parker. This is what I can add:

I3159 +
John Henry Parker
born 4 Sep 1575, Norton, Derbyshire, England
died 17 Jul 1638, Norton, Derbyshire, England

These are the sources I am using:

  • Ancestry

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Yes, that would be best.  In case you do not already know, you can find these projects by clicking on Help in the upper right corner of the screen, and then choosing Help from the drop down menu.  Look under "Projects."

Thanks for asking. If the information is from a family tree on Ancestry, I am afraid that is not a reliable source for a pre-1700 profile. Please see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources. If you can find more reliable sources - such as parish register information - great. By the way, the 4 September 1575 birth date given in the source you are quoting appears to be a baptism date not a birth date - see John Parker's profile.
