Doesn't supply "copy and paste" text, but is helpful.

I just added some with share links to the images. You can not view the transcript without being an Ancestry subscription member but you can see the actual record if a share link is used. Click on the links that say 'share' in the sources.

There are two types of links for ancestry.  A direct link to the page will only work if you have a subscription, a share-image can be seen by anyone.

With that being said, not all records on ancestry have images and if there is not an image, I link to the page because image sharing would be blank and IMHO, quite useless.

In the case of Nancy Marshall, all of the sources seem to be images, so you should be able to view them.

They (Ancestry.com) have changed the sharing of images procedure again.  The direct link of which is only for subscription but the sharing link can not be automatically shared from the site to post on whomever I am working on here aka Wikitree.  You now have to use one of these apps to share the link:

either EMAIL, A MESSAGE, FACEBOOK, WHATSAPP, TWITTER or copy to your personal file.  This is such an extra step to take and unneeded.

No, if you do not have a subscription to Ancestry you cannot see those images. I tested this by signing out of Ancestry and trying.

However if you are an Ancestry subscriber you can generate image "sharing" links that can be viewed by anyone. For example this link is for the first image on that profile:

https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/28721494?h=357d26

To generate the sharing link use the fourth icon down on the right of the image (looks like a tray with an arrow coming out of it.

Note that WikiTree has a template for sharing links. So using the template it would look like:

{{Ancestry Sharing|28721494|357d26}}

The WikiTree Sourcer browser extension will generate full citations including sharing links.

Note that just giving a link like in your linked profile is not considered a proper source on WikiTree. You should also provide enough information for someone to find the original record somewhere else (like on FamilySearch or in a library).

Personally I prefer to link to the transcribed record on Ancestry which then has a link to the image AND also include a sharing link to the image. This allows Ancestry subscribers to easily see the transcription.

For example this is what the WikiTree Sourcer extension would generate in one click. I would paste that into the biography and edit as desired. Inline citations like this are preferred but you can also generate non-inline citations. There are also lots of options for how to format the citation.

That's strange. When I'm logged, out the links work!

Edit: I thought I was logged out of ancestry, but I wasn't. Although no Ancestry pages were open. You were right.

Nope; if you want people who are not subscribers to Ancestry to be able to view your sources you should be using FamilySearch and not Ancestry.

The problem there is that I have run across sources that are in Ancestry and not in FamilySearch and vice versa. Also, sometimes the image is in Ancestry and not in FamilyTree and again vice versa.
For US census records, that is not an issue, though.
yes, i certainly find this to be true, but can hardly believe it.  Is the record missing, or just indexed under a mis-transcription so that it can't be found by searching?

At least with Ancestry, when you do find it by browsing through the whole source (parish register, census) or creative searching, you can add the correct name or age or whatever prevented the search engine from finding it.  Family Search still often keeps its secrets well hidden from me.
