No import of Gedcom data?

I uploaded my gedcom.  Wikitree Documentation says:  "you can then import data from your GEDCOM one person at a time to create new profiles or improve upon existing profiles."  There is no documentation on how to do this.  I cannot find any import button or process to load my gedcom data into a single individual.  Help.

After you upload your GEDCOM, you will be emailed a link to your GEDCOMpare report. The next step is to check that report for any potential matches to individuals who already have profiles on WikiTree. You will need to process the entire report, accepting or rejecting every match, before you are able to start adding any unmatched individuals. The page linked below provides more information.

Ok, I see some problems with this.  So I have a "John Lane", the system makes 8 suggestions for matches.  I go through the first 4 and reject them because they are spelled differently.  The fifth is a correct match so I 'match' it.  Then I've got 3 more matches that I have to reject?  Seems like the system should reject the others now that one has been accepted.  Further, after I make the match, the line's status changes to matched but not marked as completed.  Am I supposed to manually mark as completed?  Further again, I started the process with ~1500 comparisons.  I got half way through and clicked refresh and it came back with ~1800 (300 more).  Some were ones that I had already matched and rejected some suggestions.  This is quite tedious.  The system could be a little more stringent on it's suggestions since we have to manually click on each button.  Thanks.
Jeffrey, you are expressing some of the same frustrations others have in the past.

Yes, you still have to mark every potential match as accepted or rejected. Once you have marked all the potential matches for an individual, the system will automatically mark completed for you. Once you have completed all the the matches for all individuals, you will get "ADD" buttons for any individuals who did not have matches.

I'm so very sorry you did the "refresh." If you do that, you do get more matches. I'm sorry there was not more of a warning on the help page about that. It is best not to "refresh" once you've started.

Many people create profiles with very little data.  The people who set the parameters try their best to make it narrow enough so you don't get too many matches but broad enough to catch any potential matches with those profiles which have limited data.

Yes, it can be a tedious process. I tried uploading a GEDCOM and going through the process when I first joined WikiTree. I found that it was not something I wanted to continue to do. I did not feel it saved me any time. I have, since then, added all my profiles manually. Other people like uploading GEDCOMs and are willing to put up with the necessary, but tedious, comparison process and the other clean-up process which comes later.

Whatever you choose to do, best wishes with your WikiTree work!
