my mothers picture is being used for Vaudis Hauenstein...no relation...no her...how did they get my mothers picture? [closed]

The picture attached to Vaudis Hauenstein is a picture of my mother....Not related and and someone has snagged a picture and said it was this vaudis person..

I googled and the picture on the profile is on the obituary page of this person

I don't think anyone was just adding profiles willynilly.  The person who originally put up the profile also put up and number of Hauenstein profiles, and Vaudis married a Hauenstein, so there is probably a connection that just hasn't been made.  The person who adopted the profile also adopted many orphaned Hauenstein profiles, Again, no problem.

There is also no problem with posting a profile for a person, whether you are related or not.  If it were wrong, most One Name Studies would be out of luck, and most people would not be able to post EurAristo profiles, Cymru profiles, Scottish Clans profiles, etc..

There are potentially two problems:

1. Someone thinks the picture attached to the profile is a photo of grandmother. This is indeed a mystery.  Maybe they just look alike.  More info is needed from Anonymous.

2. The profile contains a verbatim obituary..This may or may not be a problem.  If the person who originally posted the profile wrote the obituary and paid to have it published or had the permission of the person who did write and pay for it, OK. (Should have cited the origin)  If the person just lifted the obit, without any cite, that is wrong and should be corrected.

Has your mother's picture been posted to the internet? If so, it's an easy screeen-grab. As to why they would use it for someone else, I have no idea.

I just checked the picture and the person who uploaded it did not put any information in the picture's record.  I recommend that you send a private message to the person to let them know and request that it be removed.  You can do that on her page at:

Check this obituary (also referenced below) which has the picture and obituary of Vaudis Hauenstein, and then check this FindaGrave site for her husband DeWayne Hauenstein. These are publicly published articles.

How did your mother's picture get on a obituary page for Myer's Mortuary for someone of a different name is one question. How did you happen to find it here is another.
