Does the death record paragraph contain detailed information?

For a lot of older death records, there is a long hard to read paragraph instead of the easy rows and columns I'm used to.

I struggle to read what it's about other than the name, place and age of death. Do they contain other useful information that I should try harder to read? For example the exact dates of birth and deaths and parent names?

I don't speak the language but it appears he married at age 20 and was married 15 years and 3 months, having 4 sons and 3 daughters. He died at age 35 years and 9 months.

The records before and after his read 8th Trinitatis and 9th Triniatas.  These are from the moveable feast calendar. In 1736 they fell on July 22nd and July 29th.  So this record is for somewhere between these two dates. (It probably gives the exact date but I can't make it out -It may be Tuesday (Tisdag) which would be the 24th.  This would mean he was probably born about October 1700.  Hope this helps -or at least doesn't make things worse !

The birth records for a few of Olof's children are as follows:

Anna -image 91  page 79

Johannes -image 149  page 135
Thank you, that is very informative! I need to do a bit of reading on old christian dates.

Thanks for finding the birth records for a few of his children.

I find the Historical calendar at slaktingar.se very useful for the old dates.

I used the Norwegian feast calendar in error.  The Swedish feast calendar would actually put that Tuesday on 29 July.

The calendar can be found here:

It's worth getting familiar with it as I find a lot of records using these calendars.
That is a very useful link, thank you! Though using your link, the date would be 17 Aug 1736?
You are correct.  I was looking at 1735 -sorry

It is usually the story of their life, and also in this case. If you try and read it, you will learn where he was born, christened, for how long he was married, how many children he had etc.smiley

Thank you, I'll start learning a bit more about how to read gothic writing then!
