Can a free space profile be created for a particular event, or an historical era?

Example: The Great Flood of 1927,  The Great Depression,  The Dust Bowl, Specific Hurricanes, etc. It gives extra umph to what our ancestors survived.

Most definitely yes. Here's an example. I recently created one on the 1937 New London Texas school explosion, as part of the Collaborative Profile of the Week

Amy, I think this is a very good question.  First I would look it up to see if there is already a free space profile for it.  Then you might want to look it up under categories as well just to make sure there is not already one set up for it.  If, you are not used to setting up categories you might want to check with  Phil Smith.  I think you can find him easily by clicking on the drop down under find at the top right and click on projects, then go to categorization project and you will find him listed there.  Hope, this helps.  Best regards.
