Arguments for George Cook to be father of Thomas James is that I found and placed a source on FamilySearch that was a last will and testament from a Geo Cook in Greene cnty Penn 1836 listing his sons as Thomas, Samuel, daughter Sarah and his surviving wife Sarah as beneficiaries. My sibling posted that a veterans benefit went to the wife of a Geo Cook (Sarah) from the Revolutionary war.
Argument that makes me uncertain is the birth date of George Cook is listed as 1750. Samuel Cook was born in 1817, Thomas was born in 1819 and daughter Sarah was born in 1820. All of those dates would place George Cook at a relatively advanced age range of 67 to 70 years old. As that is my age range, I question the father and mother starting a family at that age. According to the birth date of wife Sarah Akeman, she would have been in her mid 40s.
I suspect that the birth date is wrong on George Cook or this is not in my lineage. So, I changed the father of Thomas Cook to unknown Cook. My cousin and sibling are furious and almost abusive that the documents that are on Geo Cook's name are accurate.
I just want to be certain.
