what happened to Jean-Baptiste Ménard -- did he become John Baptiste Belrose?

+6 votes

Jean-Baptiste Ménard's father seems to be [[Menard-567|Louis (Menard) Bellerose (1795-)]] and at least one of Jean-Baptiste's brothers used the family name Bellerose.

Could he be the John Baptiste Belrose who married Nancy Bonesteel, daughter of UEL Jacobus Bonesteel?

Jean-Baptiste Ménard seems to have no adult activity, and John Baptiste Belrose seems to come out of nowhere.

Can someone find anything to prove or disprove this possibility?

BTW, the profile of Jean-Baptiste Ménard showing he lived to the ripe old age of 101 has no evidence for that.

Grateful for any help,

Thanks!  There is a lot of info in the parish register.  Could someone translate it for me?  Is it saying that Josephte is a widow at the time of the marriage?

I am no expert but I'll post a translation as a comment on the profile.
Thank you so much, Christian! I think that led to another connection!
This is a large block in my 15 note books in which all information was hand written, Most documents are in french.

Many are also linked in wikitree under the following so yes same person entry example:

Next month after surgery I would love to group up with others. I noticed that most of my ancestry is missing or not verified links.

Aha! Danielle Liard is absolutely correct! It's all in Jean Baptiste Ménard's "dit" name, being Bellerose. He's one of my ancestors on my father's side of the family tree. smiley

From the records in my ancestry tree, I can confirm that Jean Baptiste married Josephte Prévost in Iberville, Lower Canada East on April 30, 1833.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you need any further information about Jean Baptiste or any of his immediate family members. yes

All the best,
