Jude, in order to connect to William Charles Carman, you will need to add the "missing links" - profiles for your grandfather, and his father.  If you're not sure of how to do that, start by adding your father's father first, which is done the same way you added your father.
I can help by adding your great grandfather Isaac, but the wives and other children will be up to you (as would be any finer biographical details) - and then you'd just need to attach the two.

Profile for Isaac created, and marked as Notable.

I couldn't help myself — because it meant you would be Connected to the main Tree at next database update — I created a profile for Alden Grayson Carman.  I have not done anything about the wives, because the Connection needed the males.
As of tomorrow, you should be able to see how you Connect with others on the one Tree, not just the Notables featured each week, but others you see posting, or working on profiles.
