Robert Talbot, born ca. 1835 - seeking information

Question

I am looking for information on my 3rd-great grandfather, Robert Talbot.  I believe he was born around 1835, possibly in England, but was living in Ontario, Canada, by the 1850s.  His son, my great-great-granfather, was Stephen Talbot, born 1855 in Ontario, and married April 3, 1878 to Hannah Hawke.

In Ontario Marriages, 1869-1927 Index, there is Stephen Talbot's marriage on 13 Apr 1878 to Hannah Hawke. Stephen is 23 and Hannah is 21. Her parents are Garbiel and Jane Hawke. Stephen's parents are Robert and Polly Talbot. The marriage took place at Burford, Norfolk, Ontario, Canada.

I did not find much information on Robert Talbot except his wife was listed as Polly.

I checked at surname db  (database) to see whether they had information on the origin of the Talbot surname and they do have that. It has English and French origins and the French origins go back earlier.

Yes, I am aware of the origins of the name; I am just trying to figure out how I connect to it.  I can't seem to trace my own ancestors past my 3rd-great grandfather no matter where I look.

There is a Norfolk Historical Society in Ontario that could be a resource. I saw something on the wiki board the other day about Family Search offering a service where they work with individuals who set up a chat session. I have not tried it but it might be useful. Wikipedia has Burford as the largest community in the county of Brant. I hope you find a way to get the answers you are looking for.
