Is there a way to create a table of thumbnail photos on a Space page.

I’m working on a small cemetery that has a separate ‘slave’ section with fieldstone grave markers. I’d like to include a small     table of these stones on the Space page I’m creating for the cemetery. There’s no way to identify who is buried there, but they need some sort of recognition.

How is such a table created?  Is there some template?

Yes, you can build a table with images. Do you know how to build a table? You would just insert the link to your image in the cells rather than or in addition to text. The basics of table building are on this help page: Help:Editing_Tips#Tables

Thanks! I’ll try it.
Scott, Nelda, someone?

Pleas look at my Sharon Methodist Cemetery Space above and tell me what I’m doing wrong. I expected those three pix to be in a row, but they turn up in a column and the || prints below them.

You can look over my Academy Award Winners page if you want an example of how I did it.

Question - did you, perhaps, remove the space page FROM the images, so they didn't show on the right-side pane?

If so, or even if not, feel free to add Space:NoDoubleVision to the images.  Once they are definitely on an open profile, they should be visible.

Robert, when you uploaded your images did you do it using the link on your free space page? If not, here's what I suggest. First, disconnect the images you already uploaded from the page you uploaded them to. (Once they are not connected to a page they will automatically be deleted from the system in a few days.) Rename the images in your computer so WikiTree will let you upload the same image again. Use the images tab on your free space page to upload each image again. Once the image is uploaded and you are still on the edit page, click on the image. Copy everything in the URL AFTER the final / . That will be what you need to paste after image: in your table. The file name should start with Sharon_Methodist_Cemetery then have a dash, then a number, then the file extension (.jpg or .png)

P.S. I just read Melanie's message. She's right, your images must stay attached to your free space page and up to three four of them will always be visible on the right side of the page. That cannot be helped or changed. As she said, do not remove these images from your free space page unless you want to delete them, as I suggested above.

Well, Robert, l just checked out your free space page again and it looks like you got it figured out so the images can be seen by your visitors. Looks very nice!
Thanks for everything, Nelda.

I really don’t want a couple dozen pix over on the right hand column, but when I disassociate them from the Space page, they seem to get locked up again.

Sometimes I wonder if I’ve gotten in over my head.  I’m 77 and thought I knew what was what, lol

Robert, to get that "clean look" you want - feel free to add my space page Space:NoDoubleVision to the images BEFORE you detach your space page from them.  So long as they are attached somewhere open, they will show on your page.  (If you feel a little intimidated by doing that, I am more than willing to help.)

Good idea, Melanie! Thanks for you help. I know you know much more about images than I do.

Don't want to overwhelm Robert any more than I already have, but if Robert set up another space page just for all his images, that would work the same as adding them to your space page, right? And he could use that "image space page" to "store" images for any other free space pages he might later want to set up as well? It would keep the images off the right hand side of his other free space pages unless he used any one of the images as a profile image. I had not ever thought of that before. I have a couple of free space pages but the only one I put images on is dedicated to images.

Robert, I think you are catching on quickly. We all had to learn and we all "fell off our trikes" a time or two while learning and had to get others, like Melanie, to help us. She truly is a WIZ at this stuff.

Yes.  It's the same basic premise used for people profiles where you don't want a jumble of images on the right side because you have them linked in the biography.
I also do that for my sticker images - upload them to my "general" images page, then transfer them to the sticker page to show the code needed for the sticker to work.  It prevents the sticker page being confusing for the newbies who just want to add a sticker.

And, yes, for any newbie reading along - no matter how many images you can keep off a profile page (person or space), there will always be ONE left.  You can hide away background images, you can move away images used in the text field, but whatever is set to the Primary image slot must remain on the page.

Woo hoo, I created a Space page to store photos I don’t want cluttering up profiles. So far, so good.  Thanks mucho.

Feels good, doesn't it.  smiley

Yup! thanks to you and Nelda, i could almost believe I knew what I was doing! Lol
