Why link to adding parents not always on profile page?

I'm adding a bunch of people manually.

Sometimes when I add a new person, the resulting profile page has a link that says: "Father?"... "Mother?" enabling me to add a parent directly from the Profile page.

Other times there are no such links and to add a parent, you first have to go to the Edit tab, and add from there.

I was trying to find a pattern-- maybe it was a 200-year thing. But as far as I can tell, there is no rhyme or reason behind it being one way or another.

Hi Jillaine,

Can you give specific examples?

Here's a page that doesn't link to parents or spouses from the profile page:

And here's a profile that DOES link to editable parents/spouses right from the profile page:

Hi Jillaine.

The difference is whether you're on the Trusted List. This particular case is a little confusing because it's an Open profile and you don't need to be on the TL to edit it. But, like with all profiles, if you're not on the TL you see the "public view" and it looks a bit different.

The public view of profiles does less to invite interaction.

Chris
Thanks; I understand now.
