Dominican records question

So I’m new to Dominican research and records. Worse still I’m used to and spoiled by Puerto Rican records. My question is how to verify same name records if there are no grandparents and often no parents on records. For example if I have two people whose names are the same and whose parents are the same and whose towns are the same how do I know they’re the wrong ancestor? On PR records I go by grandparents. But on DR records I have found that due to spelling or grieving descendants the records are not reliable. Any tips or tricks are appreciated!
