Anna M (Casterline) Bennett (1842 - 1910) Wife of General and the Pension

Hi Wikitree

Anna Casterline was born on November 15, 1842 in Liberty Township, Union, Indiana, United States. She married Thomas Bennett on July 20, 1858 She died on November 23, 1910 in Reid Memorial Hospital, Wayne Township, Wayne, Indiana, United States

So the mystery is late in her life early in the year of 1910 just before her death “Senator Beveridge Introduced a bill to pay Anna Bennett of Richmond, Indiana a pension at the rate of $50”

Did she ever get the pension?

Edit: can we find her 1890/1900/1910 census reports?

Also what was her middle name: Mary?

The bill passed the Senate, at least.

I couldn't find anything further on it.

P.S.  This might be her in the 1910 Census of Richmond, Indiana:

Take a look at this link (bottom of page 1657):

Looks like the pension increase was approved on April 14, 1910.

Just before she passed
$40 more a month not the $50 or maybe in addition to the $50. Interesting I wonder if her family were able to keep receiving it after her passing

I love this part of her obit “Her exact age was never known by her friends because she had always laughingly told her friends that she was very sensitive on that subject.”

A southern Belle in many ways I think
