Leonard Kuhns b. Abt. 1765, married Elizabeth Spiker b. Abt. 1769 in PA; Looking for the Names of Leonard Kuhns Parents.

Question

Elizabeth Spiker was the daughter of Ullerick Spiker who came to America on the "Charming Nancy" which sailed from Rotterdam, Netherlands in 1737. I am interested in finding out the names of Elizabeth's husband's father and mother. He is Leonard Kuhns born about 1765. Leonard had eight children in probably in Eastern, PA.

Did find this 1860 Census,Samuel Kunz, wife Emilie ,Walnut Creek

Holmes Ohio.Emilie would be Amelia Emelinea Millie Lenhart.

In my Family Tree Maker data base, I have Samuel Kunz, born in 1805 in PA. Died Holmes County, OH.

His wife was also born Abt. 1805 in PA and she died in Ohio in 1842. So, she would have been only 37 when she died. He could have remarried by or before the 1860 census.

Looks like my ancestor, Henry Kuhns, would be Samuel's older brother. Henry was born in Northampton County, PA in 1798 and his occupation was that of a tailor. Although he purchased farm land in Ohio.

At one time Northampton county was very large, but it gradually was reduced in size, so that Lehigh County, PA became a separate county, where Herny Kuhns married Esther Ruff or Rough About 1820. Henry and Esther Kuhns are buried in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Wayne County, Ohio.

"...There was the problem of Indian attacks on the settlers on isolated farms, so the Germans began to build larger communities and moved into the cities, such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, Annapolis, Alexandria, and Frederick. By 1718 they started arriving in Louisiana. 1726 saw a movement into the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and again to North Carolina in the 1750s. 1731-1738 saw some 30,000 German Protestants expelled from Salzburg. Most resettled in Prussia, but a few went to America. In 1734 these Salzburg Germans moved into Georgia, and settled Harper's Ferry in West Virginia. Pennsylvania remained the largest settlement of Germans. By 1775 some 70,000 Germans had settled in Pennsylvania, and by 1835 most Germans came in to the port of Philadelphia rather than New York.
