I uploaded a picture, but it came out sideways. How do I turn it right side up?

Hi Chryse,

I must admit I don't know... but I do have a solution that I have used for similar issues.

You can disconect any profiles from the sideways image and then forget about it (it will eventually be deleted).  Make sure that your original image is right-side-up on your computer, then upload the new correct image.

That will do it for you!

Robert,

I agree with you.  No solution.  Just do it over.

There seems to be some hidden data, especially when photos are taken with a phone that can cause problems.

In all of the cases I have had this works for problem images: On your computer, roate it , save it, rotate it to the correct position and save it.  This seems to overwrite the hidden data. Then up load.

This happened to me a couple of years ago. My recollection is that the image was actually rotated incorrectly on my computer, pre-upload, so I had to make sure it was right before uploading. It didn't seem like it was rotated incorrectly because my offline software automatically rotated it on the screen.

Being a newbie on WikiTree using a Mac I ran into this problem; the image looks rotated with OSX but when you upload it, it is erroneously oriented.

For me the tip above solved it. I open the picture in Pixelmator, rotate it 90 degress four times and save it again. Uploading this new image results in a correctly oriented image in WikiTree.

Chryse,

If you are using Apple, this is a frequent problem.  There is a Mac group here on WikiTree - I don't recall the URL of their page, but you can search G2G to find several previous instances of this question, where their members have provided solutions.  You should be able to find the group's page in the Help Index.  If you ask someone there, they will be able to tell you how to fix it.

If you are using Windows then the solution is to use a graphic editing program to rotate the image to the correct orientation, then save it, and then upload it.  If you disconnect all pages from the incorrect image then it will immediately disappear from view and eventually will be deleted completely.

-- Edited to add:

The link in your question to your own profile displays only the thumbnail because of your privacy settings.  That image appears to be properly oriented.

I had already disconnected myself from the photo. For future reference for others as well. I downloaded from my google play store a program that allowed me not only to rotate the picture on my phone;I was able to crop it as well. I noticed that when I clicked on the photo to see it at full view my phone blew it up, and righted it. I will be redoing the photo eventually.
Even if it looks right on my computer or phone, I rotate it all the way back round to right and it uploads correctly then. Someone taught me that when I first got here.
