Is there any patronym for Peter van Deventer, NNS Ancestor b. 1548 in Deventer?

This is a good early test for the new Dutch Roots project LNAB selection process.

This Pieter appears to have no known patronym, and he is the oldest paternal ancestor in this chain in need of merge of New Netherland descendants..

So I think he is okay for Dutch Roots as LNAB van Deventer.

However, he is currently PPP in this one match as Van Deventer, which is not correct capitalization for a man born in the Netherlands.

So I would remove the current PPP, and then change one of the match LNABs to van Deventer. This should be done before merge, to minimize the redirects.

No patronym so far , no sources other than the find a grave and the ancestry ones  and a my heritage mentioned .

At find a grave it says his name was Pieter 'Peter' van Deventer . So corrected his first name and Peter is  his nickname now .

And the PPP indeed  should be removed to correct the Van Deventer for sure. The last name van Deventer was used by some people even earlier (that's all I could find) so I have no problem with that , although this  just might be the reason why we can't find any of them ( the fact they didn't use or were registered with van Deventer for  last name) but we still have no prove otherwise. But the children Herman and Jan are mentioned as it seems with just a Patronym Pieters . So Herman, Jan and Petertje . I guess I better start searching for them in combination with the spouses maybe we have more luck . Busy with the project and stuff so haven't searched for them yet . I'll start a search tomorrow for them , maybe father was Pieter Jansz (oldest son named after him ?) Could give it a try I guess.

I agree, though my inclination would be to go for Peters(the 'z' would be silent but generally used more if it was a male).

I'll start a search for the children, might indeed be what the patronym should be, so Pietersz or Petersz, but as I mentioned, no sources other than the Find a grave one.... so hopefully will have some luck today :)

He cannot be Pietersz because he has no known father. The Peter is an Americanization of Pieter at Find-a-Grave. It is not a patronym, as I understand it.

I think the best we can do is van Deventer.

And there seems to be at least some support for that name this early with some other family lines.

After more than a month here, we need to move this forward from descendant merging, so I am going to suggest van Deventer with PPP to Michelle on her match.

It may not be sourced enough for Dutch Roots yet, but we can keep working on that part as needed. But merging has to proceed timely.

Just go ahead , will keep searching for more info and sources...
