You inherit your mtDNA from your mother, so baring an unlikely mutation, it should be essentially the same as yours.

All sons and daughters inherit mtDNA markers from their mother. The daughters pass them on, but the sons cannot.

I took the basic mtDNA test which yields a few hundred markers as I recall. In my case it indicated that my mother's maternal ancestors spent a very long time in England. You are primarily interested in your maternal side of the family.

It's possible that it would indicate a certain region of continental Europe.

Hello!

I see that you have done a DNA test through Family Tree DNA (presumably the autosomal Family Finder test) and that you list the Bender surname.  My Mom's maiden name is Bender.  We did autosomal tests through Ancestry and our tests have all been uploaded to Gedmatch.

I did upload my Ancestry test results to Family Tree DNA, but I don't have any matches that have the Bender surname.

Let me know if you ever upload your test results to Gedmatch.  We could compare your test and my Mom's test on Gedmatch.

Thanks!
