Finding Great-Grandfather

Question

I am looking for my Great-Grandfather, William Franklin Greenfield.  He was born around 1854 or so.  His Father was William J. Greefield.  He married my Great-Grandmother, Martisha Cook, from Russell Co. Va.  What I know:

1. He was married before and had two daughters. o 

2. On March 20, 1914, My Great-Grandmother died in Child Birth with the Birth of my Grandmother, Mary Lulie Greenfield (Cook) Salyers. 

I have found several census records for him, but they are all so confusing. I really want to know what happened to him after her death and where he is buried.

There is also a W.W. Greenfield who married Caroline Barton,who was Aunt to Martisha and adopted my Grandmother when her mother died. At the time of the adoption Caroline was married to Tom Cook. I don't knW.W. stands for. Would love to know this too.

William Finley Greenfield would have to be a brother or something because I have my Grandmother' Birth Certificate and it states her father''s name is William Franklin Greenfield. That's what i so confusing. There are so many sources and sometimes they don't mesh. The Greenfield's in my line are from Caldwell Co. N.C Patterson district.

I replaced William Finley Greenfield with W W Greenfield and his wife. W W Greenfield's first name looks like William. Middle name not certain.
