New Wikitree Relationship Feature?

Not a question, but a brilliant idea!!!  I just noticed an apparently new feature here in Wikitree that shows the relationship you have to a person in a bolded box just below their name at the top of the profile page.  I think this must be a "still in the works feature" because there's a "MORE" button in the corner that doesn't do anything (yet). This sure speeds things up!  It also contains the names and links to your common ancestors!

Sounds cool.  I don't see it.  Could you be seeing a feature of a browser extension, perhaps Wikitree BEE?  https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Space:WikiTree_BEE#Highlight_your_ancestors_and_cousins

Kerry, it is a feature of the WikiTree BEE browser extension.
Well whatever it is... I like it!!!
Me too!!

Thanks, I knew about that one and use it on a regular basis.  I just hadn't noticed the one right up-front on the profile page.

Hi I have read this thread and want to install WikiTree BEE. I logged in to the Chrome App Store to upload BEE but I can't see any button to install the program. Can anybody advise the right way to install BEE?

Thanks in advance.

On the Wikitree BEE Chrome web store page, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/wikitree-bee/bldfdpnmijncfmaokfjgdmcjdhafihoh, click on the blue "Add to Chrome" button at the upper right of the page.

There's a link at the top of https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Space:WikiTree_BEE, where it says "WikiTree BEE Chrome Extension", which should take you to where you can install it.

I can't see any such button. Now what?

What do you see to the right of Wikitree BEE at the top of the Chrome web store page?  Can you see an Add to Chrome button for any extensions in the web store?  If not, you might have a privacy setting enabled the prevents access.  See the answer on this page for the setting to check/change:  https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/54328/no-add-to-chrome-button-on-chrome-web-store

I think you need to be on or using the Chrome browser, and go to here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions.  Be sure to sign in once there to your google account. Once signed in, search for WikiTree BEE and follow the instructions from there.

Hopefully that will do it.

Ken: I've fixed the More button (see the latest update of WikiTree BEE  (v.30.1.6)).  The results of that box (with the More button) come from the Relationship Finder page, which will show you a long list of most recent common ancestors between you and the other person if they exist.  I'm showing only the first two.  The 'More' button will (or should) show the rest of them.

The results are brought in the first time you visit a profile and stored in a database in your browser. After that, the previous results will be shown to you each time (so as not to kill the WikiTree server).  If you think the results need to be updated as you've added more people or something, you can (at the moment) right-click the distance/degree number, which you should see on the connection finder button (one of the BEE buttons).  (I should update this so that just clicking the box will refresh the results.  (I've added this (these) feature(s) to the new, as yet unnamed, WikiTree extension, and in that, you can refresh it just by clicking the box.))

Oh... Glad you like it by the way.  This is something I've always thought would be a good idea.

Yep!  Love it!!!  Maybe you should just have a button that says "Refresh"? Don't know how in the world we would all survive without you programmer folks... I guess the same way our grandparents did without air conditioning!!!

And the button works!!!!

Edited to ad the last statement.
